The current production of Eglė the Queen of Grass Snakes was established by the creative team from United Kingdom. The most important goal of choreographer George Williamson was to retell the almost mythical story in a coherent and understandable manner: “My starting point was the shocking upshot of the story, when Eglė turns herself and her children into trees.” The choreographer strived to reveal Eglė’s transformation from a naïve girl at the beginning of the ballet into a mature woman who is able to make fatal decisions in the finale: “I wish this production to be close to everyone’s heart. It should be suitable not only to adults, who would maybe enjoy a more abstract scenic language, but also to children and teenagers.”
