The premiere of I Capuleti e i Montecchi was unveiled in 1830 in Venice, the famous La Fenice theatre, and was met with universal acclaim. It turned into the most famous work about Romeo and Juliet in the bel canto epoch, lyrically retelling the love story and masterfully developing it up to the tragic finale. In Vilnius, we are witnessing the first, original version of Bellini’s opera, performed without any omissions.
