Never before have I felt such responsibility and been so uplifted while producing a theatre performance: after all, the love story of Barbora and Žygimantas Augustas is genuine, sorrowful and controversial. No one knows the exact turns within the story and different chronicles contain only bits and pieces, thus I was enjoying a certain freedom of creativity. The whole action is transposed into an abstract scenery, the characters are wearing stylized costumes of the epoch. I am creating live theatrical action through gentle idealization of the love story, slightly personalized interpretation of facts and my own feminine intuition. I’m not really interested in finding a modern form of the production – the main concern is the action itself, where fates of people are closely intertwined. (Choreographer Anželika Cholina)
